Yup, eggs again.

I know. These ingredients are pretty common around here. I'm just not a cereal kinda gal. Breakfast is pretty important. No wait. GOOD breakfast is pretty important. For me, that usually involves eggs, tomatoe and avocado:

Tastey Toasty Buns

Today this is my palette:

Tomatoe, sweet pea shoots, feta cheese and (you can't go wrong with) bacon!

Mountain grain bun smothered in homemade basil pesto and toasted with the feta and here's my canvas for all of that delicious colour:

Presto!

Soup to warm the soul

It's been rainy here in Canmore since I returned home Wednesday evening. Typically that means there will be snow up in the peaks, the return of winter in the mountains??? sigh. I don't mind the rain, in fact, I rather like it except..... it dampens my climbing spirit! The last two days have been work, work, work including planting my flower/herb garden for my deck despite the drizzle so I'm overdue for some delicious soup.

all of that (above) makes this (below):

Birthday Baking Yet Again.

This cake for my amazing sister Heather was simple to make! I didn't have a lot of time so I took the easy route:

Duncan Hines Devils Food cake mix. Jazz it up with homo milk instead of water, throw in some milk chocolate chips and Skor bits before tossing it into the oven. Slather it with icing made from melted (and brought to a boil) bakers chocolate, butter and milk combined with icing sugar and a tad of vanilla. My sister loves raspberries so, a lot of those tasty nuggets of tartness and a sweet message from my adorable nieces and perfectly chubby, handsome new nephew = (TA DA!).....

Camping Essentials!

Cooking while camping CAN be made simple.

I prefer to stick to all natural (sometimes bison) smokies and jazz it up with red onion, topping it off with ketchup (and of course, a glass of red wine)! You can go as crazy as you want with the condiments and veggies. I believe that simplicity is best with the right smokie.....

Sticking to classics for dessert. These days they make a graham cracker with the milk chocolate already on it! It makes for a less messy s'more???!!!

Feeding the Baby Shower Masses

I had the opportunity to throw my wonderful sister and my beautiful new niece a baby shower and as It's been particularly warm out this past week, I decided fresh is best!

Homemade: Pico de gallo. Roasted red pepper, zucchini, pickled carrot and garlic hummus. And. Appropriate food vessels for such yumminess.

I also decided to stick to mint infused ice water and lemonade (with sliced lemons) for beverages but I think dessert was the most popular; Callebaut white and milk chocolate covered strawberries!

Birthday Bakin'

This day was for my bestest and "oldest" friend Lydia who has been such a huge support of my unconventional and probably entertaining life (in a where is Waldo/Amy kind of way)! Strawberry shortcake cake is her fav so today, her two adorable girls and I created this masterpeice just for her ...well, we had a peice too, and then some;)
